What is the key to business success and abundance? In fact it is the key to satisfaction in life! But for today we’ll stick with career and business. In a word, it is love. Love is the surest path to joy.

Charisse, my high level guide said, “Following your joy in doing and being leads to abundance – they are connected. You must do what makes you happy and find a way to serve others through it.”

In the spirit of really probing this concept with her I asked, “What about napping?! What if my passion and what I want to do with my life is napping? There’s no way you can make money napping! Is there?!” I thought this question would really stump her, but she quickly replied, “There are ways, but one must be creative (smirk). What would napping bring you? Napping might bring you ideas, creative ideas. You would act on them and in turn that would bring you success and abundance. The act of napping, of itself, likely would not, but it’s all a chain. Everyone has things, energies, within them that they are here to express. How many people would express these energies by napping?! Virtually none. If people have only the desire to nap, then they are perhaps ill, and most certainly have not found their life purpose.”

In both career and business, many talk about serving others. But we will let you in on another little secret. “While [your business or career, in alignment with your life purpose] might fill a need in serving others, what it really serves is you. You are served by being in a state of joy and love. It benefits others in the end as a good by-product. But you are the one who is served, and this is why you must follow your joy, and not what you think others need or want. Because if it is not what you want, you might be resentful, and you will put that energy out into the universe. No one is attracted to that. And you really don’t want to be attracting that energy back to you, do you?”

“The joy you put into what you create, including into your business and career, is what attracts the people who buy your products, services, time and talents.” “Of course, even when expressing your life purpose in joy, you can hold yourself back from achieving success and abundance through limiting beliefs. It is important to be vigilant and ruthless about weeding out limiting beliefs.”

Knowing your life purpose is the most important gift you can give yourself. It gives you direction and focus, gives your life more fulfillment and meaning, increases your happiness and enthusiasm. When we know our life purpose, we don’t wander around our lives wondering what we should “do” or who we should “be”. Life is more easy, effortless and enjoyable – and we can all use more of that in our lives!

In learning our life purpose, we also learn about the flip side of the coin: life lessons. When you know what lessons you are here to experience and learn from, you can approach them in a conscious manner. It becomes quicker and easier – and we get out of the endless repetition of these experiences because we are aware of them. Life ceases to be an endless struggle, and is filled with greater joy and meaning.

So, imagine the enormous benefits your child will have if you know his/her life purpose and are able to support and encourage her/him from the beginning!
Outside of bringing your beautiful child into this world, this is THE greatest gift you can give him/her!

If you have wondered about your own life purpose and searched online, you will have found dozens of websites. While the content may be a bit different, you will have found that every single one is a variation of journalling the answers to a series of thought provoking questions. They may, like Steve Pavlina’s method, take 20 minutes, or they may take months or even years. And often, you will end up with something sort of nebulous. A vague direction that seems to apply to you, at least at this point in your life. Back to your child though, you never see anything about your child’s life purpose, do you? When does life purpose kick in? When you are 18? 30? No! Your life purpose and life lessons are determined – by you – before you even “get here”. We are just not conscious of it, so we don’t remember.

Never mind be able to write, or especially to answer questions about what they ‘loved to do as a child’, or if they never had to work again – with a million dollars in the bank! Love, joy and living your life purpose: a channelled blog post.

I have been channelling spirit guides professionally for a couple of years now, but recently have delved into learning formal “trance” channelling. I have a wonderful high-level guide named Charisse. (I thought this was such a pretty and unusual name – so I looked it up and it means grace and kindness. She certainly embodies both qualities!).

So, I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce you to her with some of what she has told me. In our channelling sessions, I ask her questions of a personal nature as well as some of a universal nature. I also ask her what subject she would like to talk about – what messages she would like to get out to the world through me. This post is from one of those sessions. This post is about love and joy, and how this relates to living your life purpose…

 “Love is THE greatest thing. The saying “love makes the world go ‘round” is so true, but not in the sense of simply a human romantic sense, I am talking about “true love”. True love, universal love, is UNCONDITIONAL. It is not necessarily between two adults or even from parent to child. It goes well beyond.

Can you imagine what the world would be like if it was filled with – if everyone expressed – true love? It would be paradise! And so joyful! This is what the energy is like in the higher spiritual planes. Part of what you are here for in this incarnation is to experience love, to give and receive love. This incarnation, with its polarity, allows you to feel love against its opposite. It allows for a richer experience of what love truly is. If we are loving in all that we do and encourage others to be the same, and the more loving we can be to, and with, each other, the happier, easier and better life will be. Love is the surest path to joy.

So, embodying love is the #1 key to living a simply divine life. (Yeah, I know – blatant plug. But in all seriousness she DID say it! ).

Key #2 is doing and being what brings you joy and brings you aliveness, for that is the only way that you can truly live. Listen to the inspiration that whispers to your soul and follow that inspiration!

What is joy?

 
Joy is a state of complete connection with Source. It is having that channel to your higher self and Source completely and wide open. It is a beautiful state of flow of energy and consciousness, of the highest connection. Joy is your soul fulfilling itself.

One connection that many don’t understand is that self love is also universal love. You are a part of Source – a child of God. When you love yourself, you also love and are connected to Source. To love yourself is to love Source. You are NOT separate.

Please pay attention to the following sentence – it is SO important! Too many people here on the Earth plane] do not follow their joy because they do not love themselves enough to do it, and thus, too many people have regrets at the end of their lives. Too many people “play it safe” – but it’s not about taking risks. It’s about being connected. People are so disconnected [from Source, from their higher selves, from joy and love] and that is the major cause of strive and struggle. We need to reconnect with love, joy and aliveness. Then it makes learning life lessons an easy, beautiful experience instead of one of harshness and hardship. People have a mistaken sense of nobility when it comes to martyrdom, with suffering. This world would be filled with so much more light than it is now, beauty aside, if we lived in a connectedness with joy and love.”

Take some time every day this week to get quiet. Place one hand over your heart and one on your belly, and ask your soul, your higher self, how you can embody love to a greater degree. Ask also how you can connect more to joy and to yourself. Ask also, how you can best honour and love yourself. It is okay to love yourself – you are worthy.

Living your life purpose, while the most rewarding thing you could possibly do, may be the greatest challenge you can face. It requires baring your soul, facing yourself in brutal honesty, and showing, not just yourself and perhaps a few good friends, but the world who you truly are. It requires the strength of vulnerability. It requires the courage of sincerity. It is not for the meek. In fact many people seek to create drama, pain and chaos in their lives in order to avoid even knowing their life purpose, never mind actually living it.

Living your life’s purpose is truly the embodiment of the hero’s journey. You can spend many years, decades, or even our whole lives wondering if you have a purpose and if so, what it is. This is the start of the hero’s journey – the quest.

Along the path, the hero (and, of course, heroine) encounters many challenges. When you discover and acknowledge your life purpose, the hard part has only just begun! You must listen to your inner knowing – the quiet, gentle whispers of your soul – and take action. To those around you, the journey makes no sense, it’s uncomfortable, and it’s foolish. They may rise in opposition, telling you it is not safe to venture forth and embrace your dreams. Better to mire yourself in mediocrity and servitude, bound to a life of spiritual impoverishment for the illusion of safety, or avoiding conflict by doing what other people think is right for you. But only you can know what is right for you, and you have two choices: back down and live in constant dissatisfaction, or trust your intuition and take the wild ride of authentic living.

Along this path, the hero/ine will lose faith – in herself and the decision to have embarked on this journey. Yet, through some event or realization, you find your faith again and venture forth with renewed energy and determination. Holding a vision of the fulfillment and meaning inherent to a life lived with purpose, you begin to embody more of your purpose every day.

As you live more and more in your life purpose, your life begins to fill with a magic and specialness that could never have been felt otherwise. It’s truly like falling in love – only this is with yourself and your life.

The destination is one of great joy, connection, contribution and fulfillment, and yet before the destination is even reached the hero/ine knows that the value of the journey lies not in the riches at the end, but in the riches of the journey itself.

To your quest, brave seeker.

Being the owner of a small business, I read quite a bit about marketing and such. One concept that is out there, though not seemingly too widely known or applied in the small business sector, is one of marketing a *feeling* instead of a product. This is most obviously used by the larger corporations – auto manufacturers, Apple, Coke, etc. They sell feelings of being rich, sexy and powerful, or cool and current.

What does this have to do with me, you ask?! Well, having been thinking about this for my business, I discovered that the feelings I represent with my business really do represent what I, as a person, am about. Which makes sense, right? For it to work, your business should be an authentic expression of you. So, the feelings that *you* are about reflect in all that you do – whether you’re in business or not. They affect how you  interact with the world, and therefore how the world sees you. So what are the energies you project to others? Are they the energies you WANT to project?

Here are some words to get you thinking:

• Joy
• Abundance
• Strength
• Sincerity
• Love
• Inspiration
• Doom and gloom
• Guilt
• Confidence
• Courage
• Fun
• Appreciativeness
• Thoughtfulness
• Sensitivity
• Charisma
• Athleticism
• Surliness
• Stressed
• Smart
• Gifted
• Complainer
• Exuberance
• Neutrality

There are so many more! Notice that they are not all positive – many people unconsciously project negative energy. One part of this exercise is to find out what energies you ARE projecting, followed by what energies you WANT to project. I know that we can’t  – or won’t – project “all happiness, all the time,” like some radio station, but we can choose. Take the list above, and add any other energetic qualities you can think of, positive and negative. Then go to a quiet place, with no distractions, breathe deeply and relax. Think about the qualities that are there. Allow yourself to pick 3 that represent you at this moment in your life. They might be all positive, or all negative. It really doesn’t matter. What does matter is if they are the qualities you WANT to project. If not, pick up to 3 different ones that really resonate with you. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to “try on” some of these energies. See if you like them, see if they fit who you are, and see if it makes a difference in your life.

 So, starting now for the next 7 days, take one energetic quality that you would like to project and put it foremost in your consciousness. Everything that you do, approach it from that energetic perspective. So, if you pick “courageous” for example, you will  do everything from the perspective of having that quality. You may try a new food, a new activity you thought you could never do (“acknowledge the fear and do it anyway!”), you may face bad news without succumbing to victim-hood, or you may take a chance on a gut feeling.

Now it may be tempting to take on a couple of juicy and exciting energies all at once. Please don’t – take one only, and be mindful of it. When you are done with the first week, go back to your list and pick another. After three weeks you will have an entirely new perspective on how your energies affect the world and what energies you will be projecting from now on! For me, the first energy I will be working on is patience…
