Knowing your life purpose means being clear about your big picture: what your life has amounted to so far and where things are headed. More than a set of values or a worthy goal, your life purpose is your “right life”, your reason for being.
Life purpose defines what is important in an individual life, but unfortunately too many people live with little or no connection to their life purpose. Life gets lived on autopilot, each day flowing into the other without passion or direction, simply a reaction to what is happening around you. You are undoubtedly already living out at least part of your purpose and learning your lessons – but it is an unconscious process. In order to get the most out of life we need to be conscious of why we are here.
Life purpose is really just a way of saying “an expression of your soul purpose.” What I mean by that is, since you are a spiritual being having a human experience, your soul is who determines why you are here, what you are here to express and what you are here to learn. Your life purpose is how you express your soul purpose. You can do this in many ways on many levels – it’s not just one thing.
So how do you go about discovering your soul purpose?
There are many people who offer ways to discover your life purpose, usually consisting of a number of questions to contemplate and journal about for several weeks, months or years.
I don’t know about you, but I actually LIKE contemplation and journaling, and I still had a difficult time with this type of life purpose discovery process. It’s not that it wasn’t enlightening, it’s just that it took such a long time and seemed just so nebulous. I wanted something concrete. Something quick and easy would be nice, too!
Most of us have a wee inkling of what our purpose is already, but we may be suppressing it or ignoring it out of fear, or we just think we don’t know it. Every experience we have has the capacity to show us our life purpose – and our life lessons.

Having said that though, I do recommend at least one quick session in which I will do an exercise with you to explore your motivational drivers. Once you know these you will not only know what your soul and life purposes, and lessons are, you will also know how to start expressing your life’s purpose.
